国際教育小委員会　The task committee of the international education for structural engineering

It is an important responsibility to distribute knowledge obtained as research of structural engineering in Japan to the international community, especially in Asian and African countries. Based on this background and the demands of society, our goal is set to develop technical exchange and educational activities in English by leading researchers and active engineers in the field of structural engineering, especially targeting international students and structural engineers from Asian countries. The purpose of this committee is to organize content related to performance design methods and maintenance management, create training texts, and carry out technical exchange and educational activities toward the realization of development.

Announcement

A special Program on the Management of Civil Structures 2025 Fall.

We are happy to announce all about the Special Program on the Management of the Civil Structures 2025 Fall. It will be held on September 17th (Wed.) and 18th (Thu.), 2025, in the Kansai Area. This special program provides lectures and experiences to international students and engineers, including Japanese students, to learn and discuss the maintenance of the civil structures in English. This program includes field trips to Akashi-Kaikyo Bridge and Ibaraki technical Training center, I-TR, of West Nippon Expressway to know the maintenance technology used in the real application. In addition, a special lecture will be provided by the researcher in the field of maintenance, followed by interaction between participants. International students and engineers are strongly encouraged to participate in this program.

活動報告 (Past activities)

2023年11月8日，9日
The Special Program on the Management of the Civil Structures 2023 Fall was held on November 8 (Wed.) and November 9 (Thu.), 2023, at Tohoku University. This special program taught international students and engineers, including Japanese students, to learn and discuss the maintenance of civil structures in English. The program was conducted by widely recognized professors in seismic design, management, and maintenance engineering for concrete and steel structures. The program included site trips in coastal areas where the Tsunami was fitted and damaged during the Tohoku Earthquake in 2011. The report is here.
